FTP Sites

Ada Home
The Ada Home FTP site, where you can get copies of the Ada-related FAQs as posted to Usenet newsgroup comp.lang.ada and the Lovelace tutorial, among other important things.

Ada IC
The Ada Information Clearinghouse, USA (mirrored by PAL, see below).

PAL
The Public Ada Library at WUArchive, USA (up to 250 simultaneous FTP connections). You may access WUArchive with a gopher server. There is also an HTTP (HyperText Transport Protocol) WUArchive server for users of the World Wide Web.

PAL mirror
The PAL mirror sponsored by Walnut Creek, USA

Ada au CNAM
Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, France (European mirror of PAL, up to 50 simultaneous FTP connections)

SEI
The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is a federally funded research and development center operated since 1984 by Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. The SEI is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). The SEI objective is to provide leadership in software engineering and in the transition of new software engineering technology into practice. (This site has a lot of material about Software Engineering in general, and some about Ada in particular.)

A possible substitute for FTP sessions is to buy Ada-Oriented CD-ROMs. The bandwidth of a CD-ROM is still higher than that offered by a modem :-)
